This cottage is ideal for friends and families wishing to enjoy some time together and wanting to explore this beautiful area with the amenities of Sedbergh close by. Beautifully renovated by an architect, this barn conversion oozes character with all your modern amenities. The sitting room and dining area boasts oak wooden flooring throughout and features a wonderful double height glass wall, inviting plenty of light and offering lovely countryside views. A sumptuous distressed leather sofa and woodburning stove, makes this a welcoming and cosy place to sit and relax after a busy day out and about. The bijou wooden kitchen may be compact but it has everything you will need, including a dishwasher, fridge, freezer and even a coffee machine, as well as offering more delightful views from the gorgeous character windows. Upstairs there are two bedrooms with beams and both enjoy an internal glass cornered wall to take advantage of the superb external glass wall. The shower room includes underfloor heating and a large power shower. With excellent walking from the door to the hills, why not take the circular walk taking in Cautley Spout and The Calf, via the river which affords super views of the area? Sedbergh dates back to the 13th century and is full of history and character. Fairfield Mill is close by, and shows the workings of a historic mill with some of the earliest weaving mechanisms and looms, and also houses local artists and craftsmen. Kirby Lonsdale is just a 20 minute drive away, a small and picturesque town with attractive independent shops and riverside walking with an array of quality cafes, pubs and restaurants. A little further is the village of Ingleton, and where you can enjoy the Ingleton Waterfalls Trail, a delightful circular walk taking you past a spectacular waterfall and through woodlands to open fells. Kendal is also a twenty minute drive away, making this cottage very accessible for the Lake District as well as the Yorkshire Dales National Park. About the location

SEDBERGH

Kendal 11.5 miles; Kirkby Lonsdale 11.8 miles, Hawes 15.8 miles.

The attractive old market town of Sedbergh (pronounced Sed-Ber), with its old-world atmosphere, is not only set in the magnificent western dales of the Yorkshire Dales National Park but is also close to the rugged eastern fells of the Lake District. The town, with its narrow streets, little shops, traditional pubs, famous school dating back to 1525 and its 12th century church, has been a thriving community for hundreds of years, with a market dating from the 13th Century. Leading from Sedbergh is Dentdale, the jewel of the Yorkshire Dales with its rolling hills and dry-stone walls, stretching 14 miles from the windswept moors below Whernside to the confluence of the Rivers Dee and Rawthey. At the centre of the dale is Dent, with its cobbled streets, which has existed since Norman times and nearby Dent railway station is on the renowned Settle-Carlisle railway line. There are three golf courses nearby, as well as tennis, riding, and fishing, and the area is a paradise for walkers, ramblers, runners, and cyclists. This, together with the tranquillity of the surrounding valleys, the two National Parks and it being England's book town, makes an ideal year-round holiday destination.
